Revitalising A Demolished Bathroom in Wellingborough
This Bathroom Renovation was completed in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. Moving into a new house can be exciting, especially when it’s your very own. However, making your new home fit according to your personal taste and preferences could be a daunting task, especially when it requires extensive renovation work. Although minor changes are enough for most parts of the house, sometimes the bathroom requires a more comprehensive renovation. Recently we had the privilege of working with one of our clients in Wellingborough, who requested us to transform his demolished bathroom to align with his unique style preferences.
Client’s background
A family in Wellingborough purchased a home that required significant renovations in the bathroom. Their bathroom was severely damaged, with a bare floor, some old broken tiles, broken toilet and windows, no storage space and vanity and the fittings were also outdated. So our client asked us to help him transform his bathroom into a modern and functional space.
Consultation and Planning
As per our client’s request, we sent an experienced team of professional from Normz Plumbing to assess the condition of their bathroom and determine their renovation goals. After a thorough inspection, our team concluded that the bathroom needs a complete renovation to address the existing issues.
The proposed makeover will entail the following issues:
- Removal of broken tiles and other debris from the bathroom.
- Replacement of old and damaged taps, fixtures, sinks, and toilet.
- Modern amenities such as a new vanity and shower area need to be installed.
- Placement of new floor and wall tiles are required.
- The windows in the bathroom are also in dire need of attention, and the installation of storage cabinets is required for toiletries.
- Also the electrical, plumbing and drainage work needs some major work to make sure that the bathroom functions properly for many years to come.
Designs and Material Selection
After discussing our client’s budget, we presented him with some designs from our past projects and inquired about his vision for the bathroom renovation. The client expressed interest in having a black-themed bathroom to complement his bedroom decor. To meet our client’s needs, we recommended him to use high-quality, gray porcelain tiles for both the walls and floor to create a sleek and cohesive appearance. Moreover, we suggested the installation of modern taps and vanity that would complement the gray tiles and add a contemporary touch to the overall design.
Project Challenges
This project was one of the most challenging task for us, as this is not a simple case of renovation of an existing bathroom but it requires a complete reconstruction of the old bathroom from the scratch. Due to the client’s pressing timeline, we had a tight deadline.
The project became even more complex, when the client requested us for the installation of both a bathtub and a walk-in shower, because the previous bathroom bathtub was located in a different location. So, we had to completely reconfigure the plumbing system to accommodate our client’s request.
Despite these challenges, we created a project plan while ensuring that all necessary elements should be installed to meet the client’s specifications and that the new bathroom should be minimalist and aesthetically pleasing.
Our Project Plan and Execution
Since the bathroom needed an extensive overhaul, we decided to follow a step-by-step approach ensuring that the outcome would be a beautiful, functional, and contemporary bathroom.
Demolition and Debris Removal
Our renovation starts with the demolishing of the existing bathroom fixtures and removing of all debris, including broken tiles and old fixtures, to create a clean base for the installation of new fittings.
Plumbing and Electrical System Installation
Due to outdated wiring and plumbing in the bathroom, it was necessary to remove old pipes and install new ones, along with a new toilet and shower. Installation of a new plumbing and electrical system was necessary to ensure the safety and functionality of the new bathroom.
Relocation of Door Side
To optimise the available space and enhance the functionality of the bathroom, we relocated the door. Previously, the door opened on the right side, impeding the walk-in shower area. So, we moved the door to the left side, facing the wall and away from the shower area.
Walk-in Shower Installation with Glass Panel
The existing walk-in shower was in a state of disrepair. We needed to replace it with a new, more modern and operational installation. We placed a new rectangular ceramic white shower tray and partitioned it with a sleek glass panel to give the bathroom a beautiful and spacious look. Moreover, we added a gleaming hand shower to enhance the beauty and functionality of the shower area. We also opted not to include a shower door, which further enhances the bathroom’s overall looks and creates an illusion of more space.
Bathtub and Toilet Installation
As mentioned above, before the bathroom renovation, the old bathtub fitting was different. So we needed to come up with something more innovative that seamlessly integrates with the new layout.
After careful consideration, we decided to align the new bathtub with the window wall, which was basically the area where the toilet was situated. So, we strategically positioned the toilet in between the vanity and the bathtub, leaving ample room for movement and ensuring that the rest of the bathroom remained free of clutter.

New Sink and Vanity Installation
We decided to replace the old, outdated round sink with a new, rectangular white sink that perfectly matches the overall aesthetics of the new layout. To elevate the look even further, we added sleek and stylish taps and a large wall mirror, resulting in a stunning appearance.
We opted to install cabinets beneath the sinks to enhance functionality and overall appearance. Moreover we have also emplaced small drawers in between the toilet and the bathtub, providing ample storage space for toiletries and other bathroom essentials.
Floor and Wall Tiles
Our client wanted grey tiles, so we suggested him to install porcelain because it gives the illusion of natural stone, brick, or wood. Moreover, it has a matte finish and anti-slip properties, ensuring safety for all including elders and children.
Final Touch
Now we are done with all the major renovations so for a final touch we painted the whole bathroom white to complement the overall design. Our team then made sure to go an extra mile with cleaning the whole bathroom until it was squeaky clean and ready for use.
Conclusion
Despite the challenges we faced, we nailed this project like a boss and turned our client’s outdated and damaged bathroom into a modern and functional space that met their needs and exceeded their expectations.

WHAT OUR PREVIOUS CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY
Paul RetteyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was a pleasure to work with Normz, there was a bit of a tricky installation where the original toilet (with the dark wood cover) was hiding a sink waste pipe linking to the main waste pipe. The toilet ordered was not ideal. However as you can see by the results of the new toilet installation you would not realise that there is a connector from the sink waste behind the toilet. Very pleased with the work done. Very quick, very efficient and very neatly done. Really happy with the work! RobertTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Rang Normz because I had a leak under kitchen sink. Got a nice quick response, new parts fitted and all for a good price. Also nice tidy job. I totally recommend Normz. Cheers!
